Fancy gliding down a river with the sun on your back and the bird song to keep you company? Would you like to learn how to control your own kayak or canoe, improve your skills or master moving water? All in North Yorkshire or the North East.
Using our fleet of open canoes and kayaks we can offer family picnics to skills training for more challenging expeditions. We provide skills training from complete beginners up to grade 2 moving water and touring in both kayak and canoe, or you can hire a canoe from us for your own expedition!
We are able to offer you certificated training in personal skills from Taster sessions, British Canoeing Personal Performance Start, Discover and Explore Awards, White Water Award plus Foundation Safety and Rescue Training (FSRT).

Discover Canoeing-Personal Performance Award

Stable and roomy, you can sit comfortably in them and still have plenty of room for food, camping equipment etc. The Discover Award allows you to develop your decision making and practical skills for a fun and safe time on the water, taking you on the next steps towards becoming a proficient and independent paddler. Learn how to choose and effectively use equipment, whilst developing an understanding of the factors which affect your paddling; giving you the confidence to progress to making your own choices with the Explore Award.

Discover Kayaking - Personal Performance Award
Kayaking takes many forms from white water to river and sea touring and is a great way to get on the water and explore. The Discover Award allows you to develop your decision making and practical skills for a fun and safe time on the water, taking you on the next steps towards becoming a proficient and independent paddler. Learn how to choose and effectively use equipment, whilst developing an understanding of the factors which affect your paddling; giving you the confidence to progress to making your own choices with the Explore Award.
The Explore Award gives you ownership; allowing you to choose where you move next in the world of canoeing. You will be able to develop a programme that suits what you need, learning to make confident choices and giving you the ability to independently paddle your canoe in a sheltered water environment. This award will be delivered in suitable locations around North Yorkshire, the choice of craft is up to you; canoe, kayak, Sit On Top (SOT) or Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP).
Start Paddlesport - Personal Performance Award
The Start Paddle Award is for those getting into a boat for the first time, enabling you to feel confident in your chosen craft in a sheltered water environment. Choose from kayak or canoe for your first time on the water ‘having a go’! A fun and enjoyable practical session, introducing you to paddlesport.
BCU/UKCC 2 Star training Course
Learn to handle both a kayak and canoe during this two day course. We will teach you how to be competent in both disciplines to a nationally recognised standard. The 2 star is a prequiste for the BCU/UKCC Level 1 Coach Award.
Wanting to gain personal performance awards in paddlesport? the British Canoe Unions performance awards start with the Start and One Star Awards. Get on the pathway to improvement and coaching with the award scheme.
BCU Intermediate Paddlesport Awards - 3 Star
Build on your experience and knowledge. Successful performance at BCU Three Star level indicates that a candidate can consider themselves an intermediate paddler rather than a beginner.
