Discover Canoeing – Personal Paddle Award
Using a Canadian Canoe, or open boat as they are known, is a great way to get on the water and explore our canal, rivers and lakes. Stable and roomy, you can sit comfortably in them and still have plenty of room for food, camping equipment etc.
The Discover Award allows you to develop your decision making and practical skills for a fun and safe time on the water, taking you on the next steps towards becoming a proficient and independent paddler. Learn how to choose and effectively use equipment, whilst developing an understanding of the factors which affect your paddling; giving you the confidence to progress to making your own choices with the Explore Award.
To increase your knowledge and confidence, we now include British Canoeing’s Paddle Safer Award as part of the course.
For Children to get the most out of this award, we recommend that they are 10yrs or older.
