To coincide with the North York Moors National Park “Dark Skies Festival“, come with us on an Evening Adventure Walk to see the moors at night. Starting from the car park at Clay Bank on the B1257 near Stokesley, we will use the famous Cleveland Way to go over Hasty Bank to the Wainstones and then return through the woods on forest tracks. On Hasty Bank you will be able to see out over industrial Teeside on one side and the dark, moody, moors the other way.
Your Evening Adventure Walk starts late afternoon, just as the sun is going down, and finishes early evening. It is a moderate walk, with a short, steep section and open moorland. Approximately 6km in length with a height gain of 350m, taking about 3.5hrs.
The top of Hasty Bank and the Wainstones is an open area, so please come dressed in warm, comfortable clothing and bring waterproofs, hats and gloves. The ground can be muddy, so walking boots or wellies are the preferred footwear; don’t forget a drink and some snacks.
Suitable for children 8yrs and over. We are dog friendly, so please bring the pooch! All dogs must be on a lead and used to walk the distance.
There are two dates available:
Saturday 22nd Oct. 22 and,
Sunday 23rd Oct. 22.
Please book on the same event page as the date you would like.
The trip will be lead by David, who is a qualified Summer and Winter Mountain Leader, and, also holds the International Mountain Leader Carnet. He is also a provider for the National Navigation Award Scheme.
