British Canoeing Paddle Safer Award
The Paddle Safer Award is designed for anyone new, or relatively inexperienced, too paddling. Those wanting to gain knowledge and raise their awareness of paddling safely in a sheltered water environment, in or on the craft that they paddle. Typical craft would include kayaks, canoes, stand up paddleboards, sit on tops and inflatables
The Paddle Safer Course is based on learning with the ethos of ‘supporting the paddler’ as the main focus of the course, encouraging individuals to consider where they paddle, the equipment they use and provide practical solutions if they get into difficulty. The course covers 4 key modules:
We recommend that for children to get the most out of this award, they are 12yrs or older. All under 18’s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
All equipment is provided. We do have drysuits and wetsuits available; if you wish to use one on the course, there is an extra fee, please contact us. Please fell free to bring any of your own equipment. We do reserve the right to say no to using it, but we will say why and it becomes part of the learning.
