Join us for our famous Ripon Boroughbridge Canoe Cruise. This is a day trip along the Ripon Canal and on to the River Ure, starting at the canal basin in Ripon and finishing at the marina in Boroughbridge. We will be using our stable and comfortable, 16ft canoes from Hou Canoes. These have plenty of space for your clothing, food and four legged friends if you have one; yes, dogs are welcome on the trip.
We will meet you at 9.30am at the marina, where you will be given the equipment you need for the day. Then, it is in to a taxi to take you to the start in Ripon. There, your guide will meet you and explain the day; then onto the water and start the Ripon Boroughbridge Canoe Cruise! We provide you with a dry bag to put your clothes and food in, as well as a buoyancy aid and paddle. You will have to provide a lunch and drinks for the trip, we do drinks for lunch! The Forge Deli at the start does great traybake and sandwiches if you wish to “stock up” before we leave.
The first part down the canal is relaxing and takes you from urban to rural landscapes; a nice way to learn the art of controlling your canoe before we join the river. There are 3 locks that we carry the canoes around; the third one takes us on to the river. After passing Newby Hall, we stop at the fourth lock of the day for lunch. Hot drinks are provided by the guide, and, after a leisurely lunch it is back on the water for the final 1.5 hours to the finish.
There are toilets at the finish. We do have the use of a Canal & Rivers Trust facility just as we leave Ripon.
We suggest that the minimum age for children is 8 years due to the duration of the trip and type of activity.
The trip is dog friendly, so please bring the pooch! We ask that they are no bigger than a Border Collie and, must wear a dog floatation device at all times in the canoes. We have these available to use if you need them.
