Start Paddlesports – An introduction

Looking to try Kayaking, Canoeing or Stand Up Paddle-boarding for the first time, or have you had a go and want to know more? Then come with us for a half day of instruction and guidance along with completing the British Canoeing Start Award. The Start Award is a place to start your paddling journey. If you’re brand new to the sport and really want to learn the basics to get started, then this is the award for you. You’ll cover everything from getting in and out of the boat, what you need to wear and paddling forward.

We will be using the lake at Ellerton Park. This is a flooded gravel pit with clear water and shelter from the wind if needed; A great location to Start paddlesports!

We recommend that for children to get the most out of this award, they are 10yrs or older.

All equipment is provided. We do have drysuits available; if you wish to use one on the course, there is an extra fee, please contact us.
