Summertime Farewell

Coinciding with the end of British Summertime, and the North York Moors National Park’s Dark Skies Festival, join us for a Summertime Farewell walk on the moors before the clocks go back.
Catch the last of the summers light as we walk up Roseberry Topping, take in Hanging Stone viewpoint and then across Hutton Moor towards Captain Cooks Monument. Aiming to walk back to Newton Under Roseberry as the day light fades and the skies darken.
This is a moderate graded walk of approximately 15km. It is on good paths, but can be wet and muddy in places. There is an ascent and descent of Roseberry Topping, with a short ascent on to the moors and up to Captain Cooks Monument.
The walk is suitable for 12 yrs and upwards and poor weather could be encountered. You will need to be dressed for a day out on high ground. Warm clothing, waterproofs, hats, gloves, food and drink are a must. Please wear walking boots or wellingtons.
We will meet at the National Park car park in Newton under Roseberry at 10am, aiming to return by 6pm. This is a Pay & Display car park, card only and £6 for over 2 hrs stay.
We are dog friendly, so please bring the pooch! All dogs must be on a lead and used to walk the distance.
The trip will be lead by David, who is a qualified Summer and Winter Mountain Leader, and holds the International Mountain Leader Carnet. He is also a provider for the National Navigation Award Scheme.
