Wharfedale Guided Walk
20th December 2022 @ 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM£1.00 – £35.00
Wharfedale Guided Walk – Buckden Pike
Take a break from the Christmas mayhem. Join us for a guided walk in Wharfedale, visiting Buckden Pike and surrounding area. The dales in winter are a glourious location, frost and snow (there may be some!) add an extra dimension to the scenery.
With views from the top take in Wharfedale and the Yorkshire Three Peaks to the South, Wensleydale to the north and beyond; The summit of Buckden Pike is one of those places to visit. This walk is a moderate rated walk on our guided walk ratings. We would recommend that children are 10yrs and upwards.
Information for the day
The meeting point is the National Park car park in Buckden village, behind the church. It is Pay and Display, so please bring card/cash with you. The route follows the path northwards and up to the summit. A chance to visit the Polish Aircrew Memorial and then make our way down. Going via the disused Buckden mine workings, returning to the car park.
The walk will take us high up in the Dales and the weather can definitely be changeable at this time of year. Please be dressed to go out for the day in cold weather. You must have a waterproof jacket and trousers and hats and gloves. Packing a spare layer or two would also be wise. You will also need food, drink and snacks for the day. We will provide a head torch for emergency use.
This walk is dog friendly and we would love to see your four legged friends out with you, as well as the rest of the family.
The walk will be lead by David, who is a qualified Winter Mountain Leader and holds the International Mountain Leader carnet. David is also a provider of National Navigation Award Scheme qualifications and a course director for Mountain Training
