Guided Walks in the UK

Explore the Mountains, Hills and Moors of the UK on a guided walk with an experienced mountain leader

Explore the mountains, hills and moors of the UK with an experienced mountain leader. Be guided around some of the classic ascents and learn the skills to move safely in the mountains, hills and moors throughout the year.

Come and join us for a guided walk. Either an ascent of one of the main peaks of the area or an exploration of the surrounding valleys and fells. A different walk each day and some may be themed to discover the secerts of the area. The walks will of 4 to 7 hours duration.

Prior booking is essential as the group size is limited to a maximum of six.

All the walks are lead by experienced and qualified leaders holding either the Hill and Moorland Leader Award, Mountain Leader Award or higher.

We have graded our routes into:

Easy

Low level valley routes or routes with wide paths and low angled ascents and descents. Route finding is easy or obvious.

Distance is less than 10km and total ascent under 250m. However, adverse weather conditions can still be encountered.

Moderate

Higher level routes with marked paths and tracks but exposed locations are possible. Ground conditions could be wet and boggy. Possible short sections of steep ascent or descent, adverse weather can be encountered.

Distance 10km – 20km with ascent up to 1000m

Strenuous

Remote and/or high level routes where tracks and paths may not be obvious. Ground conditions can be rocky with steep ascents and descent, which could be prolonged. Adverse weather definately possible.

Distance 10km upwards with ascent 1000m+

Some experience of hill walking would be usefull but not essential but you should be fit enough to walk the distance and carry your own food & drink etc. The moderate to strenuous days are in remote environments and will include some steep ascents/descents with possibly faint or non exisitent paths.

Walking in the outdoors involves some inherent risk and this can increase with the more remote or challenging terrain that some of our walks can encounter. Whilst we planned to avoid or minimise this risk, we can not eliminate it; and this can be part of the enjoyment of being out in the countryside. By taking part in one of our walks, you accept this level of risk.

All the easy graded routes are suitable for children from 7 years upwards. The minimum age for moderate & strenuous grades is 14 years.

Please come equipped for a day’s walking with appropriate clothing for the time of year, waterproofs, boots, rucksack, drinks bottle/flask & walking poles if you have them. Always plan for poor weather; indeed this can add to the experience!
